Since 1998, the Orpington 10k has been the highlight of our running club's calendar and has over the years raised many thousands of pounds for Darrick Wood school and local Charities.

The race is permitted by UK Athletics.

The 10k race will be run under UK Athletics rules and is a single lap multi-terrain course through some of Kent's finest countryside, starting from Darrick Wood Senior School, Lovibonds Avenue, in Orpington.

Minimum age for the 10k race is 15 years.

For a map of the 10k course, follow this link.

The 2k route and Fun Run consist of one lap of school field then one lap of Darrick Wood, returning with a lap of the field to finish. The fun run is open to all regardless of age.

The courses all start and finish from the school field and loop into the local woods with the 10k going slightly further a field by taking in High Elms were the hills help compensate for the shade.

Sites UK provide our ambulance cover, while Valley Park Radio provide a great mornings musical entertainment and PA.

The School PSA put on a great field with various stalls  whilst the local dance troop entertained spectators while their partners, parents and children competed in the 10k.

The organisation of the event is jointly split between Orpington Road Runners and Darrick Wood School PSA and the many dedicated runners young and old who continue to support us in our fund raising activities and also to the hundred or so marshals, helpers, and PSA who give up their Sunday to help stage the event and can I thank you all.

Proceeds of all races go to Darrick Wood Parents and Staff Association (PSA)

 (Registered Charity No. 271541).
